Similaritiy Between "Life Is Peachy" and "Korn"
[edit]Now I truthfully believe that section is completely useless, a comparison between 2 songs and its just a bird sound?!?! I feel thats just pointless and have removed that section. §hðwñðmêr¢¥ 21:33, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Life Is Peachy
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Life Is Peachy's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 02:18, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I will list some comments below.
Lead
- The is from the second para in the lead: "Life Is Peachy features Korn covering the song "Low Rider," a song and single by War, appearing on their Why Can't We Be Friends? album, as well as covering "Wicked" by Ice Cube." I don't quite understand the sentence. You are saying that Life Is Peachy... featured Korn covering "Low Rider" which is a song and a single by War that appears on their Why Can't We Be Friends? album? If this is what you are saying, why is it important enough to put this in the lead?
- Done - reworded. CrowzRSA 23:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- What is meant by a "hidden track"? How was it hidden?
- Hidden tracks are songs that the is meant to suprise the listener, because it is not listed on the tracklist. With a fairly self explanatory name and a link, I don't think going into further depth is necessary. CrowzRSA 23:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- There should be information on the general and critical reception of the album in the lead.
Background
- This section should start with the date to orient the reader. e.g. "After playing at a few gigs with Deftones in California, United States, Korn went back to the studio to start recording Life Is Peachy in 1996 (or whatever date it was that they went back into the studio).
- Why are events that happened after the recording, e.g. in 1997 and 2004, in the "Background" section?
- Should I change it to "Recording and production"? CrowzRSA 23:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- The second paragraph is very confusing as it seems to be referring to tracks that were not part of this album. Also, A.D.I.D.A.S. should be preceded by "the single" or something to identity it.
Promotions
- Their second single, "A.D.I.D.A.S." was released March 4, 1997. This single was already mentioned in the previous section. These two references could be combined in one place so it is easier for the reader to follow.
- Done - removed date CrowzRSA 23:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Also, usually only the first mention is linked.
- Done - fixed CrowzRSA 23:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Instead of having four short paragraphs, it would help the article to flow and reduce the chopiness to combine some paragraphs.
- Done - merged one two of the paragraphsCrowzRSA 23:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- The long quote might be better in a quote box.
- Can you specify which quote, I don't see any in this section. CrowzRSA 23:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
(comments ... to be continued.) Xtzou (Talk) 21:11, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- (continuing the comments)
- General comment: Amazon.com is not a reliable source for much of anything in the encyclopaedia. You will need to replace most, if not all, of those. (I have not looked specifically at each one.)
Lead
- "With much anticipation for the band's second album following on the success of their 1994 self-titled debut, Korn created a United States double platinum. The award was certified by the RIAA."
- Do you mean something like, Following the success of their 1994 self-titled debut, Korn created a second double platinum in the United States, certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
- Yes, are you proposing that I should reword it? CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- Do you mean something like, Following the success of their 1994 self-titled debut, Korn created a second double platinum in the United States, certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
- Why are the two specific covers important enough to mention in the lead?
- Mainly because it is the first time Korn has covered a song. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- "Life Is Peachy features Korn covering the song "Low Rider" by War, as well as covering "Wicked" by Ice Cube. The album features themes social encounters and revenge." Here, there is repetition as "features" is used in two sentences in a row, so the wording needs to be varied.
- Done - reworded. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Production and recordings
- Too many repetitions of "release", so the wording needs to be more varied. "The first issue was released under Immortal/Epic, and was released October 15, 1996. The second issue, released in 2001, was released under Sony Music Entertainment. The 2004 release was released through Divine Records, and was in LP/vinyl format."
- Done - reworded. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- Repetitious wording: "Other versions include remixes song featured on their 1994 debut album.[7] Other versions include the songs featured on their self titled album."
- Done - reworded. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- "No Place to Hide" was the album's first promotional single. The single features the song "Proud," a song that was previously unreleased." - This belongs under Promotion below. All the promotional releases should be together.
- Done - merged. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Promotion
- The first para is repetitious and events and not ordered according to a time sequence:
After Korn finished recording Life Is Peachy, they began touring in the Sick of it All Tour, Beginning in January 1995, to March 1995.[9] Korn released a promtional disc called Life Is Peachy Tour Sampler, with Incubus and The Urge. The album featured 3 tracks, "Chi" (live) by Korn, "All Washed Up" (live) by The Urge, and "Hilikus" (live) by Incubus. The promo was released after Life Is Peachy, and lasts for twelve minutes and seventeen seconds.[10] Following the Sick of it All Tour, Korn joined the Danzig 4 Tour, including Danzig and Marilyn Manson. The tour lasted 3 months[9] and was preceding with the group touring with Megadeth, where they played thirty-five-hundred to five thousand venue.[11] They toured with Megadeth, Fear Factory, and Flotsam and Jetsam. All of this happened in the summer of 1995. Lead vocalist Jonathan Davis introduced the bagpipes while performing live (however many people there did not like this).
- " The album featured 3 tracks, "Chi" (live) by Korn, "All Washed Up" (live) by The Urge, and "Hilikus" (live) by Incubus." This should not be under Promotion as it has to do with the album sequencing.
- Since the promo features 2 tracks that weren't by Korn, I considered that to be significant. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- " One of Korn's first concert dates was in London, where they performed in Nottingham." What is meant here, as Nottingham is not in London.
- Done - fixed. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- 'However, there was conflict between Korn's bassist Fieldy and someone from "tech."' What does this mean and what were the results? Why is this important enough to mention here?
- Done - reworded. It is significant because it was the first cancelled date during the tour, and also involves conflict within the band. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- "In 1997, Korn toured solo, and headlined in places they had performed in with Megadeth. The shows that Korn headlines were often sold out." - Repetition of "headline".
- Done - reworded. CrowzRSA 21:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
- Also, this paragraph is just a list of tours without any indication of the impact of the tours or their success. And too much repetitious use of the word "tour".
Lyrical themes
- The first paragraph is largely unreferenced. The one reference to CD Universe (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/1089669/a/Life+Is+Peachy.htm) is not a reliable source for statements like '"No Place to Hide", Life Is Peachy's first single, appears to have various themes. One could be that while Jonathan Davis exposes his painful past to the world he has no secrets left, and no comfort zones. He feels raped because Korn is becoming the next big thing and the media takes advantage of him pouring his soul out. This theme was carried into later singles "Y'All Want a Single" and "Freak on a Leash", where he feels he is simply used by the music industry to make money.'
- "The lyrics for "A.D.I.D.A.S.", Life Is Peachy's second single, illustrate a sexually frustrated and narcissistic individual who lives in fantasy as a result of his isolation from actual social encounters." http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1766 is not a reliable source for this statement.
- Also, sites like http://members.fortunecity.com/eanrollings/meanings.html and http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=2730 are not reliable sources because it is unknown who exercises editorial control.
- You might look at This Is It (Michael Jackson album), Slipknot (album), Dignity (album), Paid in Full (album) and other articles on albums in the "Wikipedia:Good_articles#Arts > Music > Recordings, compositions and performances" to get ideas on how to organize the material and what kind of sources to use.

- As far as I can tell, you have resolved at the issues. A good job on an interesting band. Xtzou (Talk) 17:21, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Rap metal
[edit]their are several instances of rapping in life is peachy including in the songs "Wicked", "Lost", "No Place to Hide" and "Chi" and it's listed as one of the genres on allmusic so i'm adding it — Preceding unsigned comment added by I call the big one bitey (talk • contribs) 11:58, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Removing Christgau review
[edit]I am removing the Christgau review. The reception part does not metion his thoughts or critique on the music, nor does the "bomb" do anything to explain this to readers. The "bomb" icon could also be misleading, in this case I think it means "dud" but it could also be interpreted that the album is "the bomb"(good). If it must be included please add a legit review from Christgau. UselessToRemain (talk) 18:36, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
