Confusion
[edit]I'm not sure some of the examples add much to the article and confuse a little. "the town crier is heard, for example, calling "Oyez, oyez!", to which a passer-by responds "What a fancy fez!"" - not sure I get this?
Also there's another problem between the English translations and the original French given that the Caliph is in fact called Harroun El-Poussah (French version) not Haroun al Plassid (English version).
The 1987 A&O book Asterix and the Magic Carpet, features an Iznogoud-like character that wants "to be Raj instead of the Raja". --Auric The Rad July 2, 2005 19:51 (UTC)

Original titles
[edit]Perhaps it is a good idea to add the original French title with the English books? To me the translation is not always clear, so I hope someone can do this. Jochgem (talk) 23:20, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Wilhelm Hauff
[edit]I think the series bears some resemblance to Wilhelm Hauff's old fairytale "Caliph Stork". Has anyone else noticed it, Goscinny mentioned it in interviews or something? 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 14:55, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Article cleanup
[edit]I reckon this article is due for a cleanup. Too many examples from the stories etc. Seems too much like an attempt to pad it out. Also some sentences/paragraphs could be added to its own 'section' on the page. It mentions that the pirates from Asterix make a cameo appearance; there were more than this (Gaston LaGaff, Captain Haddock and Snowy, etc) who have made an appearance. These details could be added and expand the article. Also I'm sure some scans may make this article much nicer than it already is. --InvaderJem (talk) 21:31, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Pronounciation of the name
[edit]It is written that the main character's name is pronounced "he's no good". However, I believe it would be more accurate to say that his name is pronounced "is no good", since there is no H in his name, nor is any H pronounced when you read his name, and the Z in the name is actually quite pronounced, making "is" a better" choice than "he's". --Guiwong (talk) 12:42, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- It actually says that it's pronounced like "he's no good" with a French accent. In French there is no h sound. Mezigue (talk)
- My french is better than my english, and french people do pronounce the h when speaking english, so they would pronounce it in this case, even if they have a strong accent.--Guiwong (talk) 12:22, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
