[edit]Where's this from? My source - Hollis' The Nandi (see that article for biblio details) - gives an almost entirely different list:
- Kipsegun, 1st Nandi Orkoiyot
- Ar-ap-Kipsegun (Kipsegun's son) and Kopokoii (dual administration until the former was ousted), 2nd Nandi Orkoiyot
- Turukat (son of Kopokoii), 3rd Nandi Orkoiyot
- Kimnyole (son of Turukat), 4th Nandi Orkoiyot, killed by the Nandi in 1890
- Koitalel or Samwei (son of Kimnyole), 5th Nandi Orkoiyot, killed by "our forces" (ie British) 1905.
- Kipeles or Tamasun (also son of Kimnyole), 6th and present (ie 1909) Nandi Orkoiyot.
It further observes:
- The position of Orkoiyot is a hereditary one. The medicine men are descended from the Segela Masai, and belong to the Talai clan, whose totem is a lion.
I would add this stuff, but I'm not sure how to reconcile it, or how reliable the source for the current list is. - Mustafaa 06:58, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)
The table I (Mustafaa 19:32, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)) just replaced was:
