Greetings, Scuzz138. I promised I will write to you and I apologize for the delay. I just now submitted a rewrite/expansion for the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland article, and I would appreciate any attention you could give my addition, and for that matter, also my unfinished draft for the Southern Rhodesia article, and any other writings I author on the Rhodesian series of articles I intend to work on in the near future. Once I get to the Rhodesia article and its respective timeline (so, by extension, the history section in the Zimbabwe article, too), I would very much value you lending me your expertise on the military-history (and anything further, of course), and in particular, counter-insurgency front. Thanks.

- Addendum: Would you happen to know of any other instance(s) Territorial troops were deployed during the CAF era aside from the Wankie coal miners strike of 1954 (which I don't believe I mention in the CAF article) and the 1958-9 uprisings in Nyasaland (which I do mention in the CAF article) ? And, would you know of any instance in which Federal troops were deployed. Would you have any details about the composition of the armed forces – if memory serves me correctly, the real (that is, conventional) armed forces remained Territorial, whereas the Federal ones were mostly limited, militarily, to a police a force. Any insights you could offer me with these questions would be greatly appreciated. El_C 01:33, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- P.S. I almost forgot. As you may notice from my talk page, I edited your email address to ommit the "@" symbol, supplanting it with "àt." I did this because Wikipedia is a very popular site and there are spammers who use automatic programmes to locate/extract email addresses, and this is one way to combat them and reduce junkmail. So, in the future, I advise you to write-out your email address without the "@" symbol, and instead use àt (or ât, ät, et cetera., be creative!). Also, if you ever email me (which, as mentioned on my talk page, I invite you to do), please leave a note to that effect on my user talk page as I do not check the email address I use for wikipedia's email function on a regular basis. Welcome back!
[edit]Hi, Scuzz138, welcome back! I, myself, was away for a bit, so (also) sorry for taking a while to get back to you. I am pleased to learn that your research went well and am looking forward to reviewing your findings in detail (a cursory overview indicates these to be very useful and instructive) . Also, I'm looking forward to learning what you thought of the SR draft and CAF article (what you liked, what you didn't like, where you see room for improvement, how, etc.). I hope to hear back from you soon, renewing collaboration on the Rhodesia series of articles, integrating your findings into the draft/article, etc. I actually did not do any substantive work on any of the Rhodesia articles since we last spoke – even when I was active I was not too active (I worked primarily on The Destruction of the European Jews, glance at it if you get a chance). Until we speak again,
Regards,

Best of luck, Scuzz138!
[edit]With your exams! Are you finished with them yet? How do you think you did? I am very pleased to learn you have collected so much useful material for the Southern Rhodesia, Central African Federation, and Zimbabwe-Rhodesia! I wasn't able to find anything (aside from one picture of Huggins, courtesy of Wally, actually). I am also very pleased you are fond of my article and draft respectively. Looking forward for your return and for us to continue our collaboration in this fascinating area! As an aside, I am also especially pleased today: I have been nominated for and voted as an Administrator. We'll speak soon. All the best, El_C 04:05, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
- Hi again, Scuzz138. I hope you are doing well. Just a quick note that I moved our discussion of the draft, from my talk page into the actual draft page, at the end (here). Once you're back and the discussion continues, I'll probably move it to another subpage (so the draft page isn't excessively lengthy), but I just thought I'd let you know where it is for now. All the best, El_C 07:10, 8 May 2005 (UTC)
