Talk:Torrens title registration
Surely this article would be better under the title "Torrens title" rather than "Torrens title registration". There is no ambiguity between "Torrens title" and "Torrens title registration", and in legal use, "Torrens title" is more commonly used. --Yu Ninjie 08:57, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
First, let me apologize. Before moving this article, I should have said something on the other article's (i.e., Torrens title's) talk page. Second, at least when American lawyers talk about the Torrens title registration system, they never use the phrase "Torrens title"; having said that, though, let me add that few American states actually have a Torrens title registration system—so I'm not one to assert anything. I know that in Australia the Torrens system is used everywhere (good for Australia; it's a better system for recording ownership to land than the one we have here). Could an Australian lawyer please inform me—Yu Ninjie, please tell me if you're an Australian lawyer—what's the more common usage in Australia? Third, I thought "Torrens title registration" was simply a more helpful title than "Torrens title," which, by itself, tells the layman nothing. But we should have a discussion about this. Thanks, Hydriotaphia 14:14, Feb 10, 2005 (UTC)
Yu Ninjie, I see from your page that you are indeed an Australian lawyer. Feel free, then, to revert my changes. Sorry! I shouldn't have interfered. Hydriotaphia 14:16, Feb 10, 2005 (UTC)
