Version 35.0 or 35.05?

[edit]

The AQ Updates page says the game is in version 35.0, while the Wikipedia page says it's at 35.05. see:AQ:UpdatesExoKiller4 (talk) 23:51, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Warp Force

[edit]

Artix Entertainment Announced that they are currently working on another game named 'Warp Force'. It is suppose to use the storyline from Adventure Quest and continue from that. Should we add a sub-section for it? Eugenekoh12 (talk) 09:03, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A small one with only very GENERAL info on it AND a link to the Wikipedia page for it. Its a separate game compared to AQ, wether or not they ARE the same storyline. It should not be really in a separate page that has little to do with it. Mr Kirby XIII (talk) 21:07, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have recently created a Wikiproject Called Wikipedia:Wikiproject Artix Entertainment. If you guys could join and help out that'd be awesome! We really need help with starting some Artix Entertainment related Articles. Thanks! :^) §†SupaSoldier†§ 01:53, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have archived the talk page. Will get to the Dragonfable page in a few days.

There's not much of a need right now - I'd wait till there around 30-40 posts. Unless we want to keep an on-going archive where we do part at a time and then add more to it later. That could work. Also, you generally don't archive discussions that were recently posted on. --Eruhildo (talk) 02:31, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Z-Tokens

[edit]

I don't see how Z-Tokens fit for Guardianship at all. If it were Upgrades like Mechquest and Dragonfable pages, it could go under but Z-Tokens have nothing at all to do with being a Guardian except the extra boost of 300 Z-Tokens. --Den5328954 (talk) 23:52, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Den5328954[reply]

How are we suppose to include 3rd party sources when battleon isn't that big yet? ɫ§Veonyx§ɫ ~Talk to Me~~My Acts~ 00:03, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We may not be able to find any for a while, but I'll look around for some next week. --Eruhildo (talk) 01:17, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is obviously going to me a major problem for the project later. Good third-party references are almost non-existant. We can't produce something that doesn't exist, so what is it we're supposed to do? I'm as confused about this as the rest of you might be. --Netaviofhell (talk) 18:38, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vampireslayer Name Change

[edit]

I really see no proof that Vampireslayer was changed to Shadowslayer. Can someone hand me any proof. Plus, it hasn't changed in game either. I asked on the Forums and they say it has not changed either

Den5328954 (talk) 22:31, 11 May 2008 (UTC) Den5328954[reply]

If it's not in the game and hasn't been announced in the design notes, then it's not true. --Eruhildo (talk) 03:41, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Its been announced on the forums - by the staff members - that Vampireslayer, due to The Sweep will get changed to Shadowslayer. But first when the Sweep reach tier 2 classes, wich is in progress. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.162.158.110 (talk) 09:19, May 18, 2008
The preceding comment isn't signed or varified, so should we just ignore it? --Netaviofhell (talk) 18:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not at all. I went ahead and looked up who posted it and signed it for them. For some reason IP users often don't sign. I guess they don't know they should. Besides, it's easy to verify their claim by just checking the AQ forum, I just prefer to trust people. --Eruhildo (talk) 04:13, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's true. The name has not yet been changed officially, however. It will be changed when the class is swept. You can find my proof in a Devourer cutscene. Cenara references the class as "Shadowslayer." Abreus Shadowsbane (talk) 05:09, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

OK, so I haven't been on Wikipedia all that long, but how much vandalism is a lot of vandalism? class mistakes

[edit]

In unrealesed classes, summoner, illsionist, and cleric have not been confirmed to come out. There is also no evidence there will be a ranger quest.Although they say there is going to be one since the start of the game, there is no evidence of work done for this class. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nickblademaster (talkcontribs) 22:03, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is no evidence of work, but it was stated in-game.
A quote from my Forums Guide, which was taken from Warlic's Mage speech:
"Q. Where did you get the unreleased class information?
A. Warlic says it when introducing Mage Class and I quote:
“Warlic: Once you learn the basics of magic and become a mage, you will be able to seek further knowledge in other realms of magic, such as:
Warlic: Summoning, high wizardry, black magic of necromancy, white magic of clerics, and illusionary magic.”
In addition, Garbs, not Garb, and Robes, not Robe.
Shamanking100 (talk) 21:13, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Shamanking100[reply]
In general, we don't include info on unreleased classes. --Eruhildo (talk) 02:52, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
May I ask why? As a few others are there. Shamanking100 (talk) 09:41, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Shamanking100[reply]
Lack of data mainly, I think. That and the fact that they have little-to-no importance to the game until they're implemented. I think we discussed it a while back on one of the other talk pages (think it was DragonFable's), but I could be wrong. I rarely, if ever, play AQ, so I can't go through and clean up the class list. Plus I'm in the process of writing a set of guidelines for AE related articles. I don't really feel like making lots of changes like that till I get them done and confirmed with the other project members. Speaking of which, if you plan to be a regular contributor to this article, you should consider joining our WikiProject. --Eruhildo (talk) 23:25, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(outdent) Yeah, I think it was about the paladin and necromancer classes. People kept adding them with unconfirmed information, so finally I think we said not to do it any more until they actually were released for testing or more information was given on the DNs or something. Which seems like a good policy to me- if you don't have information on something, how can you add it accurately? Alinnisawest (talk) 17:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh good, I didn't just make that up in my head. I'll add that to my slowly growing list of project guidelines. --Eruhildo (talk) 23:48, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There was a weird edit in the Elements Section: "The pattern of weaknesses is typically, but not always." Not a complete sentence, not sure what to change it to. Shamanking100 (talk) 02:21, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I saw that too. I have no idea what it's supposed to mean so I removed it. The whole article could use a major trim down really. --Eruhildo (talk) 16:07, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of Characters of AdventureQuest Merging

[edit]

I do not think it's necesarry . AdventureQuest's article is already too long and AdventureQuest has many characters . —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andra2404 (talkcontribs) 16:13, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree this article is too long. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to clean it up myself. Once the character list has been trimmed down to just main characters and this article has been cleaned up, I don't think merging them will be a problem. --Eruhildo (talk) 05:38, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
While I agree with the sentiment, I must ask how main characters would be defined in a game such as Adventure Quest. The character of Zorbak tends to pop up often, but his character is more comic relief than central to any story. Galrick was a major character in the latter parts of the Devourer Saga, but his character had virtually no presence outside of the those quests and cutsceens directly tied in with The'Galin's arrival. Is Artix a major or minor character? What about Galanoth? Cyrus? Safira? Wolfwing? Cerena? Twilly? The clan leaders of Paxia? The list goes on and on. And with the exception of Twilly, all of the aforementioned characters have had story segments devoted to them. The problem, however, is that most of those story segments don't share a common ground which would unify them. So the question again becomes how we define "main" characters in a game as non-linear as Adventure Quest? 141.166.234.196 (talk) 05:40, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would say that if a storyline is available for a player who has started playing at any point in time (in other words part of the permanent storyline), it is probably part of the main storyline. Though I agree that AQ is rather non-liner as far as RPGs go. As for who counts as a major character, that's a little hard to say. Let's discuss that on the project talk page. --Eruhildo (talk) 03:31, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism ~ Once Again!!

[edit]

I came to get information on the RPG AdventureQuest and all that was on the page was TYLER IS STUPID!!!. I am not sure who erased all the information on the page and put that, but I do not think that it is appropriate and it seems as though this has happened before. Therefore, I was wondering how many times does it take for a page to be vandalized before it is protected?

Since I am new at editing Wikipedia, I felt it was necessary to leave a message here and let the expert Wikipedia editors and those that know the game get rid of it and re-edit the page. Thank You (。◕‿◕。) --Pugpugsley (talk) 18:04, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I restored the article and send warning messages to the two vandalisers.--Megaman en m (talk) 18:08, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Vandalism happens - some people out there are just jerks. Looking through the history, I notice that vandalism has picked up again, so I put in a request to have this article semi-protected. We'll just have to wait to see if they think it's been bad enough. --Eruhildo (talk) 17:03, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Create other links?

[edit]

Hey.

This article features too much stuff like "Warlic's Shop" or whatever and that will just throw the reader off if he/she doesn't know what they are. We should write other pages about these parts of the games and link there.

Naah, there isn't much description there. Only used once. Can you give me all the jargons? --Mark Chung (talk) 12:16, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

7h3 3L173 (talk) 21:28, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I finished doing it. Side-comment: Also, I suggest putting the clans and sub-races and stuff in a diffrent section because... well, it's kind of sitting in a lump there.

Categorization Problems

[edit]

Both "Ballyhoo" and "Houses" are listed under the Storyline section, which appears misplaced. I would think that "Houses" would belong under Gameplay, under the same criteria as Clans, Towns, and Equipment. "Ballyhoo" is a bit trickier, perhaps adding an "advertisement" section (or somehow tactfully merging it with "upgrades", as it deals with game revenue). Either way, I can see no argument for "Ballyhoo" existing as part of the story.

Slightly unrelated, I would suggest a brief mention of AQ's non-linear nature in the paragraph under Storyline. This aspect seems to not be mentioned in the entire article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rustythepirate (talkcontribs) 07:46, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When did this turn into a CRUFTfest? :P--156.3.74.84 (talk) 20:44, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It didn't. I see no cruft here, merely legitimate discussion over the organization of an article... --Alinnisawest,Dalek Empress (extermination requests here) 20:54, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not the discussion; the article. I meant to put my comment under a diffrent sec. but somehow.. I meant to ask why there is information about the vampires and stuff? The least someone can do if that's up is make a seperate one for all the clans too. Just saying...--156.3.74.84 (talk) 20:44, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How to shorten the article

[edit]

This article has become very very long. I plan on deleting certain parts but I'll first discuss them here:

  • "As of February 28, 2009, aq.battleon.com, the game's hosting website, and www.battleon.com, the game's homepage, have an Alexa rating of 1,362." Articles about websites shouldn't have the Alexa ratings, I think this is considered trivia.
  • "Also, some of the stronger bosses have defense modifiers to the Void element." Gameguide material.
  • "When a battle begins, either the player or the monster goes first mostly depending on whoever has the most Luck." Gameguide material.
  • "Sometimes, the attacks could also vary on what weapon is used. The weapon, depending on what one the player is using, can sometimes release its special attack." Trivia and gameguide material.
  • "If the monster dies, the character is awarded with experience, gold or Z-Tokens." This is already mentioned in a previous paragraph.
  • "If the character dies he or she has to speak to Death to return to town without any penalties. The death is saved in the game's database." trivia.
  • The entire skill points section. Trivia and gameguide material.
  • The entire The Elements section. Gameguide material and already summarized in a previous paragraph.
  • The entire Shops and Equipment section. It's already mentioned that a player can have weapons, shields, pets and so on in a previous paragraph, this just drags it out and can be considered gameguide material.
  • The entire Guests and Pets section. Again, it's already mentioned that a player can have pets/guests, this, again, just drags it out.
  • The subraces section can be vastly shortened as most of this section is filled with trivia and gameguide material.
  • The clan section can be shortened, or even deleted. Full of gameguide material such as how to join a clan etc... maybe the section can be considered trivia and should be deleted entirely?
  • The entire Clan Wars and Challenges section. Trivia.
  • The entire Alignment section. Trivia.
  • The entire Towns section. Trivia.
  • The entire Houses section. Trivia and gameguide material.
  • The entire Yearly Events section. Trivia.
  • The entire Ballyhoo section. Trivia and could be considered advertisement.
  • The entire Upgrades section with all of its subsections. This is just one big advertisement.

So does anyone have objections?--Megaman en m (talk) 12:53, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I created a sandbox with your suggestions (but it still needs work). If you want, you can send the Gameplay section (you'll have to write the class info) to this article as that's finished... (Ain't I speedy? :))

A crowdsourced project

[edit]

When I used to play adventure quest, I remember how it was very interactive with its players. It often had special events for real holidays. One main thing that caught my eye about AQ was how it had a certain crowdsourcing aspect about it in which the game designers made it so fans and players could suggest ideas for the games. These ideas could and were often small things such as a new weapon idea, or a new monster for the game. Sometimes larger things were suggested like story lines.Dracothejuggler (talk) 03:19, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Server free users limit

[edit]

The wiki page says it fluctuates from 5000 to 15000, but in the past few days i have only seen 2500 or 3500.. Edit: Its also at 1000 frequently, with thousands guardian players its nearly impossible to log in sometimes (2200 players playing at 1000 free slots sometimes).

Possible Error?

[edit]

I noticed this while I was reading the article, and it seems to contradict itself:

Server cap

There is a limit to the amount of free players who can play simultaneously, depending on the time of day and factored server load. The limit was fixed at 4,000 during the early days of AdventureQuest,[citation needed] but it currently fluctuates from 2,000 to 4,500.[4] Guardians and X-Guardians may login at any time, regardless of the server limit. Due to the server cap, free players trying to log in at busy hours of the day, and even still, the server limit often spontaneously decreases when slots become available or filled.

Newly created free accounts are given 24 free account (not character) logins. AdventureQuest also provides an account confirmation that upon completion grants users another 48 hours of unlimited free logins.[5] Artix Entertainment defends the server cap as a way of controlling server load and covering the cost of hosting the game.[6] As of July 14, 2011, the Server Cap was removed forever.

Anyone feel like fixing this? Also, doesn't the sentence about the server cap need a citation?

Oh, and another point; Under the 'Houses' sub-section, it has the following text: "A few days after this was released, the cheapest Estate; the Forest Log Cabin Estate, was removed and became rare. It only costed 3,100 Z-Tokens." However, I'm looking at the shop right now, and the Forest Log Cabin Estate is still there. I also brought one about a month ago, well after the supposed removal of this House.

This article needs updating, and a good amount of TLC :)
