I've taken it upon myself to add video game screenshots where needed. Most video games, barring bemani, are primarily visual, so screenshots are necessary to give a reader a true sense of what the game is like. Graphics aren't everything, but they certainly set the tone for the game. Mortal Kombat isn't half so entertaining without the gore!

I prefer images from the original versions of the games, of the first appearance of the characters, and of the first games in the series. It's much easier to grab shots from older games, via emulation, and it also simplifies matters, so I don't have to fuss over whether Knuckles looks better in this, that, or the other game.

Pictures of the game's packaging or title screen rather annoy me if they're the only images in the article. They're just not very informative. Most of the time, the art looks nothing like the game in action. Besides, if you're going to grab the title screen, why not play a little, and grab a screenshot of the gameplay?
