Untitled

[edit]

The stamps and postmarks of the exposition say "Alaska-Yukon-Pacific", but I'm supposed to be at work and can't investigate this yet. Stan 19:10 23 Jul 2003 (UTC)

There is a great deal of information on AYPE philatelic issues in Postal Markings of United States Expositions, by William J. Bomar. This is currently available (5/30/2005); one source is the Jim Mehrer's Postal History.

The campus

[edit]

"The fair was set up on what is now the campus of the University of Washington, an area which was mostly undeveloped at the time." It only had a few buildings, but it had been the university campus for about a decade. The school was still pretty small. In any case, I think "what is now" should go. - 69.17.114.183 (talk) 07:07, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tons of new images

[edit]

I've uploaded several hundred images from the AYPE at Commons:Category:Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. I'm still in the process of cropping and cleaning them up, but here are some of the more remarkable ones:

And many more where that came from. Feel free to use if useful. :-) I'll also be looking for other articles that may have use of them. Dcoetzee 02:57, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Last known remnants"

[edit]

From the article: "Drumheller Fountain is one of the last known remnants from the 1909 fair." Architecture Hall, the Women's Building and (just outside the official site and present-day campus) the College Inn Pub are all "remnants". So should this sentence go? - Jmabel | Talk 06:34, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A number of external links on this page no longer work. I intend to remove or replace these links and also add a link to the Seattle Public Library's Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition Digital Collection which contains almost 100 articles, brochures, catalogs, directories, guides, reports, and other related materials. If no one objects, I will perform these edits next week on 10/14/2013. SternaAlbifrons (talk) 23:58, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
