alien abduction
[edit]Why isn't there anything in here about his alien abduction by "The Nine"?
Sammy Hagar discussed his abduction on the 3/6/2004 airing of The Howard Stern Show. He claimed that he was abducted by aliens at the age of 19 and that they had "downloaded his brain". However, his sincerity was questionable. Bsmith94 (talk) 16:16, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
lebanese?
[edit]are you sure? who says (besides my cousin)? ;-)
Yes, Sami Haggar... very Lebanese
Sammy Hagar is NOT of Lebanese ancestry. Hagar's mother was an Italian American, and his father who claimed Irish ancestry was of Dutch ancestry. He is not an Arab.(24.62.100.251 (talk) 00:44, 27 February 2012 (UTC))
You're a fool, not all Lebanese people are Arabs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.172.121.99 (talk) 23:49, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Checked his ancestry to see the old stuff before it’s updated on Finding Your Roots tonight. Instead, I saw a spoiler here based on an ad for the show. Jesus, you guys couldn’t wait a few hours until the show actually airs? tharsaile (talk) 00:40, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
Los Tres Gusanos
[edit]This article could use a link to the Los Tres Gusanos article about Sammy's side project with Michael Anthony and David Lauser (which is only in infacy however). Planet Us would also be worthy of mention.
Politics
[edit]Citing his performances with Toby Keith as evidence he is a Republican is unacceptable for two reasons, and I removed it.
1. Toby Keith is a registered DEMOCRAT who contributed to a range of Democratic candidates in the 2004 elections as well as to Bush-Cheney.
2. Sharing the stage with an artist is certainly NO indication of shared political orientation. To continue the Toby Keith story, he is known for his bombastic pro-war stances and yet is a CLOSE FRIEND, not merely fellow performer, of Willie Nelson, who is anti-war, and Merle Haggard who is likewise anti-war. Brooks & Dunn, staunch Republicans, have played and recorded with liberal Democrat Sheryl Crow. Musical and political alliances do not go hand in hand per se.
Why the hell are a rock musician's general political beliefs (if they are not an outspoken activist or adhere to some particularly extreme philosophy_) even relevant? Unless the bios of 92% of rockers say ("he is beleieved to be a democrat"0 then it is stupid for the other 8% (or whatever) to say 'he is believed to be a >>>>>(gasp)... REPUBLICAN" Liberal Wiki bias.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.91.163.131 (talk) 22:33, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- While I agree that the politics of a musician are irrelevant, they can be interesting, and I feel I must point out, to set the record straight, Sammy Hagar is a Republican (or, if not a registered Republican, at least a conservative!)

- The relevance of the anecdote is a separate issue. There is more valid proof, though--for example, his pro-life song from the album Marching to Mars, and his playing at the recent Republican National Convention. 76.93.41.50 (talk) 08:06, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- That song was also against the death penalty, something a Republican would be for. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.182.183.68 (talk) 22:56, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- See review of RNC performance that says, "He seemed confused by his presence there" link Hagar certainly has conservative and liberal values, but has not used in such a career defining way (As say, Ted Nugent has) to commit a definite placard in a wiki bio. Redrkr (talk) 01:18, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Changed a few things....
[edit]One, Van Halen only made one #1 hit single, so I deleted the "made many #1 hit singles" and also...I deleted the whole "trouble in paradise" since that is obviously biased
This Planet's On Fire (Burn In Hell)
[edit]Why is "This Planet's On Fire (Burn In Hell)" missing from the singles' list? Surely its' his most well known song.
Citation of source needed for this, I should think:
[edit]"As the show ended, Eddie smashed his guitar on stage sending shrapnel into the audience. This caused tensions to flare up backstage after the show and Sammy and Eddie reportedly almost got into it and someone had to step in between them."
Not a single source posted on the page to back this claim up. 86.42.192.200 (talk) 15:22, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Missing albums
[edit]Not sure if it's the only one, but "Right Here, Right Now" is missing from the Van Halen years.
And I seem to recall an album where he did a cover with Boston singing back-up and credited as the Boss Tones? I could be wrong on that though, maybe it wasn't a Hagar project. Noe that I think of it, I think it's the 79 Best of Album. Woodfanatic (talk) 18:50, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
- "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" was a Sammy Hagar single released in 1979 b/w "I've Done Everything For You" and was not included on any album until a 1992 Best Of compilation. Members of Boston appeared as back up singers credited as "The Boss-Tones". Redrkr 23:03, 19 July 2009 (EDT)
Birth name/place
[edit]Dear editors, we had here an editor who references a primary source ("Monterey County, CA -Records-Birth certificate") that apparently states that his birth name is 'Sam', and that his birth place is 'Salinas'. The birth place seems to be a thing which is difficult, as 'the internet' (quite an unreliable source) seems to state that the birth place is 'Monterey', and for that another primary source conflicts with the records, see the Van Halen website, while for the birthname we did not find a suitable source (and the internet conflicts on that massively, 'Sam' and 'Samuel' are both found, but nowhere reasonably reliable sources). The problem now is: what is correct. Does someone have access to this information so it can be checked? --Dirk Beetstra T C 07:23, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- Done. More sources (especially online ones) would be good. --Dirk Beetstra T C 19:19, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- It's just Sam Roy Hagar, not Samuel. Several authors have assumed Samuel, but the birth certificate on file at California Birth Index says Sam Roy Hagar, mother's maiden name Baio. Per WP:DOB, we are not allowed to use personal information from government sources until some time after the person has died, usually a year. So this information must be cited to other sources, for instance the Joel Selvin–authored autobiography Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock. In that book, Hagar says he was named Sam Roy after his "thief... crook... prick... fucker" of a grandfather. Right there on page 3. No need to get flustered by the sources which are wrong. Don't forget Zeppelin
[edit]Sammy Hagar was also the lead singer for AC/DC and Led Zeppelin for a brief time. We should add that to the article, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.19.128.61 (talk) 02:19, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Equipment
[edit]I think the equipment section needs to be updated. Check the Gibson web site as Sammy has two signature guitars that Gibson started producing within the last few years. The Sammy Hagar Red Rocker Les Pauland the Sammy Hagar Signature Explorer.
When I saw him in concert about a year ago, he played both.

Photo
[edit]Can you please update the photo at the top to something cooler looking? I photo from 1987 would be good. That was his best look. 2603:6010:9103:ED37:4968:58C8:1D73:E899 (talk) 21:43, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
