Austin Powers

[edit]

Did anyone notice the Ketchup Song has the same dance as that performed by Doctor Evil in International Man of Mystery. Hand and foot movements match those of the Ketchup Song. Seems like a link there. Ketchup Song comes after Austin Powers, so it seems Las Ketchup copied the dance from Mike Myers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.6.232.69 (talk) 05:26, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gypsy Ketchup

[edit]

Why does it say Las Ketchup is a Gypsy group? There's no reference on their page.

Satanic Ketchup

Gibberish

[edit]

Just to be sure, "Aserejé" isn't a Spanish word but as meaningless as "hippityhop" in English? Maikel (talk) 07:56, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone pleas point out the origins of the song, I believe they knew an old man who used to sing rappers delight without actually knowing the words because he only spoke spanish — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.22.113.106 (talk) 05:15, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

[edit]

I have tagged this article for cleanup.

 • the article doesn't distinguish between the Spanish ("Aserejé") and English versions; for example the description of the song's "plot" refers to the Spanish version
 • the article claims that the chorus "Aserejé ja de jé de jebe" is a transliteration of the chorus of "Rapper's Delight" ("I said a hip hop the hippie the hippie") although this is patently untrue (e. g. because there is phonetic equivalent for "hip hop")

I'd do it myself but my Spanish isn't good enough for me to grasp the finer points of the Spanish original. Thanks. Maikel (talk) 08:21, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Las ketchup.jpg

[edit]

Image:Las ketchup.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Original research

[edit]

No references, so I'm removing this dubious original research:

...which happens to be the 1979 rap hit "Rapper's Delight" by Sugarhill Gang. The first verse of Rapper's Delight: "I say the hip hop, the hippie...", pronounced phonetically in Spanish the way it would sound to someone who does not understand English, becomes the chorus of The Ketchup Song. Although technically meaningless and sometimes referred to as gibberish, the chorus is a more-or-less phonetic pronunciation of the first verse almost in its entirety. The song has a very fast tempo of 185 beats per minute.

;I said a hip hop, the hippie, the hippie:Aserejé ja de jé de jebe
;do the hip hip hop, a you don't stop:tu de jebere sebiunouva
;the rockin' to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie:majabi an de bugui
;to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat:an de buididipí

The similarity after the first line really isn't that close. Stevage 08:39, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsense

[edit]

Quote: Finally, the word "Ketchup" ends with "up" (symbolically, heaven) and ends with "chet" (if pronounced quickly, shit), that if they are joined together it literally means that heaven is shit, a direct attack to the religious belief.

I have removed this sentence as it makes no sense. Maikel (talk) 23:52, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
