SAML

[edit]

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. Just thought I'd leave a message to say I'm very impressed with the way you've transformed the SAML article. A brilliant first contribution. CheekyMonkey 23:49, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Saml-anatomy.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. jmorgan (talk) 19:32, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Saml-anatomy.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Saml-anatomy.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:59, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Just a small thing: when I choose to print and the "shrink to fit" option is on in IE11, the font used by the printer is too small to read, at least much smaller than most of the articles in Wikipedia. The cause could be the schema on the web browser SSO, which is too large and requires IE11 to zoom out when printing, thus makes the font so small. Do you think we can resize that drawing so it fits into a letter or A4 page, when we choose 100% in the print menu of IE11? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.254.147.140 (talk) 06:46, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I'm working on a book on Hadoop Security that includes some discussion of SAML. I was hoping I could use a copy of your Web Browser SSO image in my description of the protocol. If you'd be willing to provide the image under a non-share-alike license, I can include it in my book. Feel free to e-mail me (book at hadoop-security.com).

SAML cross reference

[edit]

Hi - I noticed that you changed the Wiki-link that I added for assertion on the SAML article. [[1]] My intention is to send readers to the general definition of assertion, but your link sends them only to the specific type of assertion related to SAML, which doesn't really help as much. I always hate getting reverted so I thought I'd reach out to you here and see if you agree. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 23:23, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @TimTempleton. Thanks for taking the time to write. I'm afraid the definition of Assertion_(software_development) does not apply in this case. It refers to something else entirely and so it doesn't really help (or so I claim).

I would be open to writing a new article entitled "Assertion (SAML)" but that is more difficult than it sounds since there are multiple versions of SAML. That is why there are separate articles for SAML 1.1 and SAML 2.0.

Btw, you may have noticed that I added articles for identity provider (SAML) and service provider (SAML). These terms are thrown about freely in the SAML-related articles so I felt SAML-specific definitions were needed. However, I'm not sure if the same reasoning applies to "Assertion (SAML)". Tom Scavo (talk) 14:50, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are absolutely correct - my bad. I took the opportunity to educate myself a bit and made two changes. I clarified the text in the Security Assertion Markup Language lede rather than Wiki-linking to the subsection, as you had done, and added a disambiguation hatnote to the top of the Assertion (software development) article. What do you think? Better? TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 20:21, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Very nicely done, @TimTempleton :-) Tom Scavo (talk) 22:34, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Hickory Tussock Moth 2018 Sep 16 (1).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hickory Tussock Moth 2018 Sep 16 (1).jpg, which you've attributed to CC BY-NC. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 02:10, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cryptographic authenticator moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Cryptographic authenticator, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Your edit of Trillium luteum

[edit]

Hi, I’m really curious why you think it’s necessary to have three lines of text for a web citation, when a single click provides all the details required? If every citation had this amount of detail, people might struggle to find the actual links, and the refs would be three times the length of the article itself (p.s. the original link was wrong anyway). Yours in puzzlement, Darorcilmir (talk) 16:36, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I use Template:EFloras for consistency. The actual content is determined by the template and therefore mostly out of my control. Tom Scavo (talk) 17:03, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see the template is “underused”. Hardly surprising. It’s counter-productive to have such an unwieldy chunk of text for such a simple weblink. Darorcilmir (talk) 19:52, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't disagree with your assessment but the use of a template trumps all else IMO. A single mod to the underlying code changes everything, everywhere. Tom Scavo (talk) 22:39, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Trillium

[edit]

Hi Hardyplants. I'm looking at your photo in article Trillium cernuum. Since the shot is so far away, I'm having trouble confirming the identity of the plants in the photo. AFAICT, there are no pigments in the reproductive organs, which leads me to speculate that this might be T. flexipes, not T. cernuum. Can you tell me where in MN this photo was taken? If you have any other info that would help positively identify these plants, I'd be grateful. Tom Scavo (talk) 15:37, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

Pigments in the floral structures are not a reliable way to ID these species. The picture was taken just south of the Twin Cities, where both species are native. Unfortunately, the flowers in the picture are washed out by the flash and there is a loss of details. I have both species. There is a lot of variation in specimens but generally T. cernuum has the flower hidden below the foliage, and T. flexipes has the flower level with or above the "leaves", Within our local populations the length of the peduncle is also different with T. flexipes having a very long one while T. cernuum has one just long enough to get the flower under the leavesHardyplants (talk) 05:37, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Trscavo, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help).
