"The Return"

The episodes for "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return" should be on its own page, much like List_of_The_Munsters_episodes does not include episodes of The_Munsters_Today. Shoddy knock-offs should not be listed on the same page as the classic show that inspired them: it's a new show, and should be on its own page.

Sources for season 1 airdates

The Home video Availability section

Should we really list that section? I mean, on the page under "See also", it shows the article for the Mst3k video releases, which CLEARLY shows which episodes have been released on whichever home media release (VHS, DVD, online etc), so it seems like this is kind of repeating too much information if we list that page under see also but have the home video releases on this page, too. Episode title/featured film column severely messed up

Until 7 February 2013, this article followed (more or less) the instructions listed in the "Explanation of entries" section, with the MST3K episode title – not the original film title – given under the "Featured film" heading, even though the featured film often had a different original title. (This wasn't incorrect, at least in most cases, because the episode titles were not added by Best Brains, but were the actual titles for these films as shown within MST3K, and confirmed in IMDb.) Nevertheless, it was somewhat confusing, especially where the links to some of these titles went to articles with different (but also correct) titles. It also implied that the linked articles were about the episodes, when I believe most if not all were actually about the original films, with at most a brief mention of their use as MST3K fodder.

Between 7 and 13 February, an anon systematically updated the "Featured films" entries to reflect either the original film titles (many not in English) or the Wikipedia article names, or both (without any explanation in the edit summaries or here on the talk page). This reduced some of that confusion (and made the heading "Featured films" more accurate), at the expense of completely removing the differing episode names, which are an essential part of an article listing episodes. (Duh.) I was going to change them all back, but reverting all of the anon's edits would've been excessive, given that s/he did considerable work matching up episodes with film titles/articles, which was also supposed to be part of the information in this column. Manually correcting each will be quite time-consuming, and I'd first want to review the current rules of film-article titles before attempting this. (Last time I checked, English WP film articles are supposed to use the title best known in the English-speaking world, following general EN:WP practice.) Um...

If we're noting about episodes being available for streaming, then should "Home video" be changed to "Home media"? Because online streaming isn't technically home video, and also, should Vudu really be counted? Agreed, though there's really no reason to list the streaming releases anyway, seeing as they're all identical to the existing physical releases. They're not new releases (just digital-only versions of the content from the DVDs). It's just Shout Factory distributing the exact same product in a different format, so why should it be listed separately? Friginator (talk) 00:11, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

I'm really starting to think the home video availability section is just pointless, since we have an article that shows which mst3k video releases are available featuring which episodes (and at the bottom it even SAYS the article under "see also"). I did some cleaning up on that article since alot of it was just critism (some of which may have been from me, which, again, I apologise). Everything under the home video section could easily just be noted on that page (but only listing dvds that ARE availbable; not ones that are planned to be released). 96.237.242.65 (talk) 17:05, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Episode numbers

So it looks like, starting with season 11, the show will be acknowledging the cumulative episode numbers in addition to the traditional season episode numbers. Would it make sense to add them somewhere on the page? --User:Wack'd

Not if the bulk of the series wasn't numbered in this way. They're keeping the previous codes (SSEE numbering), so we should stick with that. The cumulative # helps to keep our total episode count accurate. --MASEM (t) 02:14, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

So, hypothetically, if the 395th episode is still using both SSEE and cumulative numbers, then the cumulative numbers would be added? --User:Wack'd

It will depend how they refer to older shows. Given the show's history, they overwhelming prefer SSEE over cumulative episode numbers (This includes the media covering the show), but that could change in several years, but too soon to tell. --MASEM (t) 13:14, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Upcoming episodes

While "Repiticus" has been readily announced at this point, I note from the most recent Kickstarter email that they are strongly urging that we do not reveal all the titles when backers get the episodes in a few hours here (as to try to get a Season 12 from Netflix - the less shared, the more this influences NF's decision). So until Friday, we should not rush to add the episodes, which also is aided by the fact that since these are not public releases, these can't be "verified" yet. --MASEM (t) 04:10, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
