A proposed plan to make the bio structure more consistent
[edit]I'd like to work on improving bios of basketball players, starting with current and past players at UConn. I've created a page summarizing some of the issue and proposed solutions User:Sphilbrick/sandbox for current bio structure. I'd love to have some feedback on my proposed changes before going ahead and making the changes. I know Wikipedia encourages bold editing, but every one of these pages represents the contributions of people who may have deliberately chosen the section titles or or current order - if there's a good reason not to change, the current format should remain. I would like consistency, but not a foolish consistency.
Please comment at the talk page whether you agree with my approach, or have better ideas. --SPhilbrickT 00:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
DUI
[edit]Her DUI situation was entered in the WNBA section, along with slightly different information in a stand-alone section. I consolidated the information into the WNBA section, and removed the separate section. I believe I have all the information from both of the places now in one location.--SPhilbrickT 12:40, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
- Apparently, some feel it belongs in a standalone section, but it doesn't belong after External, so I moved it up.--SPhilbrickT 18:55, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- Why was the DUI removed entirely? Also, does anyone know why she didn't start for several seasons? 67.86.248.31 (talk) 03:43, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
Removed trivia section
[edit]Someone added a trivia section with the following items:
- Spanish is the language of choice spoken in the Taurasi household.
- Sociology major at UCONN.
- Scored 3,047 career points at Don Lugo High School in Chino, CA.
- Received the 2000 Cheryl Miller Award, presented by the LA Times to the best player in Southern California.
- Lists “Above the Rim” as her favorite basketball movie and “Duck Tales” as her favorite cartoon growing up.
- Would like to play one-on-one against Magic Johnson.
- Wears the number three because “coach made me”.
- First car was a 1986 Toyota Corolla that was “the ugliest thing”.
- For breakfast, dips saltine crackers in hot tea: “It’s an Argentinean thing”.
- Her Mercury jersey was third-best seller in the WNBA in 2006.
- In 2006, launched official website dianataurasi.com.
- She is the most skilled woman in the WNBA and very beautiful as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.242.178.66 (talk) 21:03, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Trivia sections are frowned upon in WP—material that belongs in a bio should be integrated into the main article, items that are truly trivia probably do not belong anywhere. I believe the 3rd and 4th items do qualify for inclusion, however, they are already in the article. The rest strike me as pure trivia.
Birthplace
[edit]Someone changed her birthplace to Argentina. I see no evidence to support that; while her mother was born in Argentina (did someone read some source carelessly?), her parents had returned to the US before she was born. That said, there are conflicting reports noting both ChinaChino and Glendale. It would be nice if someone tracked down to see which is right; I'll try when I get home if no one else finds it first.SPhilbrickT 20:54, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

New Team?
[edit]I saw an edit listing Diana with a new team. I did a quick Google search and see a number of news items, but I didn't find any in English. While the edit may be factual, it wasn't accompanied by any reference, so I reverted it. I'm sitting in a meeting at the moment, so i can't do proper research, but if someone wants to edit her current team, please make sure a reference is added. In addition, the chance change shouldn't be made to the WNBA team in the infobox, but an entry for an international team (which doesn't exist, I'll try to fix this evening)SPhilbrickT 13:35, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- Sufficient number of references has been added into the article. Rangond (talk) 14:21, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Section ordering
[edit]I added the stat section for the college stats. While an argument can be made that the college stats belong near the college section, I think the page looks broken up to have stat tables interspersed with text sections.
My suggestion is to have each of the text based sections, then follow with:
- Awards and Honors
- UConn stats
- WNBA stats
- Notes
- External links
I'll take care of the move, but wanted to sew if there were any objections.--SPhilbrickT 14:31, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Taurasi is the best basketball player in UCONN history. It's not even close.
[edit]Probably should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrklarinet (talk • contribs) 01:28, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Taylor gave birth to the couple's son???????????????????????
[edit]As Taurasi is female and does not produce sperm Taurasi is not the biological father. Should state that Taurasi is the partner of Taylor who gave birth to a baby boy created with help from a male sperm doner whose name is not disclosed. 2600:1015:A025:FEDC:EB84:BCDD:711F:645A (talk) 14:54, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
