Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Self-government
Self-government was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was to redirect the article to Self-governance.
This article is pretty close to patent nonsense, although some sense can be made out of it if you try hard enough. An actually relevant article could probably be written on the subject of "self-government", but the current stub is no use to anyone in that endeavor, and many actually discourage the creation of a good article on the subject. Basically, the current article has no value whatsoever, so we should just wipe the board clean. -- Mihnea Tudoreanu 15:59, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I agree. If this isn't completely rewritten, it's not helpful in any way (and unfortunately, I'm not qualified, or I'd do it myself). Delete. [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 16:05, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect to Self-governance, or possibly Autonomy. Someone more versed in the niceties of these terms should make the distinction as to which one. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 16:44, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. I don't even think a redirect is warranted. - [[User:KeithTyler|Keith D. Tyler [flame]]] 18:32, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect, with no merge, to Self-governance and create a redirect of Self-Government to Self-governance. Inasmuch as these terms will be most often used for "home rule," they're more specific than the broader "autonomy," which means merely independence, with or without any attendant government. - Disambiguating comment: "Self-government" is a popular and potentially-article-worthy political expression for just the sort of "autonomy" Geogre mentions among libertarians. See 38 400 Google hits for "self-government" +Libertarian; also inward links to presently redlinked Advocates for Self-Government at Libertarianism and Libertarian theory (but still 19 700 hits for "self-government" -"Advocates for" +Libertarian.) - Redirect, by the way. Samaritan 08:17, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Delete. Don't redirect. There's a good article in it but this is not salvageable.Dr Zen 23:31, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect to Self-governance -- Kpalion 01:27, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect. -Sean Curtin 04:42, Nov 18, 2004 (UTC)
- This one looks like a dictdef, but the general idea is worthy of inclusion in the Wikipedia because it's a popular idea with libertarians. Clean up, or redirect to self-governance. --Idont Havaname 01:11, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect to self-governance. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:47, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Delete the contents, not the entry of course. Clossius 21:00, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
