Not particularly. That's what makes it so wonderfully notable when it happens!
Shemic
[edit]What is a "shemic language?
- I guess it meant "Semitic", as there is a family of Semitic languages and the word "semitic" derives from "shem". But the whole idea of listing languages there was bad; there's no reason for any other languages to have the same ambiguity in "free". German doesn't -- though interestingly "free beer" is "Freibier", as an adjective free as in beer is "umsonst" or "gratis", not "frei".
Shem in hebrew, Sem in greek. thus, shemite=semite, and shemitic=semitic
Free as in speech

what a letdown
