It is my understanding the parasympathetic nervous system does not have a large negative effect on the force of contraction (inotropic effects) due to the low number of muscarinic receptors found on the myocardium. I understand force of contraction to be more related to sympathetic stimulation (or lack of stimulation) of adrenergic receptors on the myocardium.
